BOBST Master RS 6003 to expand the flexible packaging capacity

The BOBST Master RS 6003 rotogravure press combines high print quality, advanced automation, and efficient energy use. For SCEA, this machine has become an important asset in expanding flexible packaging production capacity. At the same time, it supports more sustainable operations and gives the company greater flexibility in managing different production needs.

Located near Verona, Italy, SCEA supplies high-performance flexible packaging to the food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and industrial sectors. The company is recognised for its experience in flexographic and rotogravure printing. Its profile brings together the speed and adaptability of a family-run business with the technical expertise and operating capacity required for more complex production demands.

Following a period of rapid expansion, including the launch of an automated logistics hub and the installation of three new production lines, SCEA found itself in need of technology that could deliver higher throughput without compromising the flexibility and quality that define its brand. Having already invested in its first BOBST press in 2016 and followed up with the purchase of a NOVA D800 laminator in 2024, the BOBST MASTER RS 6003 was the natural next step in the company’s ongoing collaboration with BOBST.

“Our first BOBST investment quickly became our flagship machine, and we’ve built on that success over the years with successive installations,” says Mauro Pattaro, Managing Director of SCEA. “With this new investment our goal was to increase production capacity while maintaining the flexibility and responsiveness that have always set us apart. The BOBST MASTER RS 6003 offered exactly that, providing the perfect blend of reliability, automation, and performance. With this new press, we can handle a wider variety of jobs, optimise setup times and guarantee the same excellence across every production run. It truly represents an evolution in our printing capabilities.”

Master RS 6004: advanced automation with a user-friendly interface

The MASTER RS 6003 is a stand-out example of BOBST’s rotogravure press engineering. This machine combines advanced automation with a user-friendly interface and energy-efficient systems that minimise waste and downtime while securing exceptional consistency across runs. Its modular design enables users to quickly adapt to different job sizes, from large-scale industrial production to shorter, customised orders, and it can help customers reduce energy consumption by up to 20% compared with alternative machines. As a result, it is perfect for supporting SCEA’s mission of delivering high-quality packaging with a low environmental impact.

SCEA’s relationship with BOBST began nearly a decade ago and has grown through multiple successful installations, with each project reinforcing the shared values that define both companies. The installation of the MASTER RS 6003 represents a powerful step forward in SCEA’s journey towards smarter, more sustainable, and highly efficient packaging production.
