Edible insects for the first time will be presented in a major way at Anuga, the world´s largest trade fair for food and beverages.
At Anuga 2019, there will be a unique start-up section designed for insect food companies. Among the companies is Entis, the fastest growing insect food brand in the Nordics.
Nutritional values and great potential for edible insects

“Edible insects have a great potential not only in their amazing nutritional values but also in their environmentally friendly farming methods. It is important to develop such products that will make the consumers love the idea of edible insects. In our research, we have found out that western consumers are more willing to eat insects when they are not visible. Therefore, we use insects mainly as an ingredient in our products. Also branding the products in a right way is crucial“, says Samuli Taskila, CEO of Entis.
Since the beginning Entis has launched 4 different product families which are sold by the biggest retailers in Finland.
Entis´ protein snacks and chocolate covered crickets will soon be launched in 4 different countries in Europe with a major European retailer.
Expectation and interest from international retail companies

“We’ve had a pioneering role in insect food development in the Nordics and it’s great to see the hard work pay off now when international retail chains have discovered the potential in Entis products. We as a company have paid close attention to product development methods as well as branding right from the start and the progress made recently has shown we’ve done things the right way. We expect to see a lot of interest from international retail companies also at Anuga“, continues Taskila.
Huge potential as a sustainable protein source for edible insects
As the global population increases, insects could become a vital part of our food production.
Farming insects causes up to 98% less greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional meat and also requires only a fraction of the water and space compared to any other protein source. Insects also have amazing nutritional values: they are high in protein, iron, zinc and B12-vitamin.

“And it´s not just about sustainability, insects are also good for you. They are high in protein, zinc, iron and B12 -vitamin. When we are able to overcome the ´yuck´ factor, insects will become a crucial part of our food system“, believes Taskila.
Entis is the leading insect food brand in the Nordics. The company produces delicious and most of all high-quality insect food for human consumption.
The products are currently sold by the biggest retailers in Finland and soon in 4 different countries in Europe.
