Virtual ceremony for LatCub winner with HEINEKEN UK

The World Beverage Innovation Awards, the most important competition in the beverage sector worldwide, celebrated its 18th edition on November 11 in a virtual ceremony, organized in association with BrauBeviale. The judging panel considered 279 entries from 25 countries across 22 categories.
LatCub, Alzamora Group’s sustainable solution created for packs of four, six, eight and twelve cans that aims to free the oceans from plastic, won the award for “Best Environmentally – friendly Packaging” with HEINEKEN UK.
According to the WBIA jury, LatCub is “a simple solution with a huge environmental impact that has been able to maintain, in an excellent way, the same functionality as plastic rings“.
Produced with the least possible cardboard and without any type of plastic, glue or adhesive tape, LatCub offers major brands the opportunity to expand their communication and differentiation space in a totally ecological way.
Integral solution in six differente models that facilitate palletizing and transport

The General and Commercial Director of Alzamora Group, Josep M. Berga, confirm that “LatCub is the first solution with these kinds of characteristics launched on the market that has proven to reach, by far, the current levels of cadence and efficiency. Results that we value positively in this first year”.
At this moment, LatCub offers an integral solution and it is available in six different models adapted to the needs of each client, with designs that provide greater protection and hygiene, as well as features that facilitate palletizing and transport.
Alzamora Group entered the World Beverage Innovation Awards in conjunction with HEINEKEN UK – the two companies worked together to introduce the LatCub across a range of HEINEKEN’s multipack can packs.
The leading beer company announced the launch of this new packaging line in the United Kingdom last August across Heineken, Foster’s and Kronenbourg 1664. An important change in their packaging strategy with which HEINEKEN UK “expects to eliminate up to 517 metric tons of plastic per year“, as they reported.
LatCub saves 500 tonnes of plastic every year

Matt Callan, production director for HEINEKEN UK says: “The LatCub, or Green Grip as we call it, has been a gamechanger. For so long, the plastic rings on cans of beer and cider have been rightly scrutinised, and working with the Alzamora Group, we’ve been able to install the technology and get the beers on shelves across the UK, despite huge logistical challenges brought about by the global Covid crisis. This award is much deserved – and we look forward to working with Alzamora as we roll out the Green Grip across our entire beer and cider portfolio, which will save over 500 tonnes of plastic every year.”
LatCub and BotCub to minimize the impact of carbon footprint

Alzamora Group has achieved important awards with LatCub, for its innovative, sustainable and original character. One of them is the World Star Packaging Awards (WPO), the world’s highest distinction in packaging, and now the World Beverage Innovation Awards.
Another of the current biodegradable solutions offered by Alzamora Group in the beverage sector is BotCub, the grouper for bottle packs that, like LatCub, wants to significantly minimize the impact of the carbon footprint with the minimum use of cardboard.
