Schmalz will demonstrate the use of vacuum technology to process food and packaging swiftly and safely at Anuga FoodTec 2024 (March 19-22, Cologne) in hall 7.1, booth A071. The primary goal is to ensure consumer and process safety.
Apples in a box, milk in a carton, sushi in a box and mayonnaise in a five-kilogram bucket – food packaging is as diverse as the requirements it has to meet. When it comes to handling, the focus is always on protection against contamination. Everything that comes into direct contact with the food must be non-toxic and easy to clean.
Schmalz is presenting the modular SFG flow gripper at Anuga FoodTec. Specially developed for handling dry food products, the contact element made of FDA-compliant silicone gently picks up sensitive products such as waffles. The gripper fully complies with the hygienic design specifications. Thanks to its compact and lightweight shape, the SFG supports highly dynamic processes.
The soft and flexible sealing lip holds the vacuum even on structured surfaces. The suction cup can be replaced quickly and easily without tools, making the systems highly available.
The OFG finger gripper comes into play when, for example, sushi canapés need to be placed close together in a tray. Schmalz has modeled the narrow limbs on a human hand. The OFG is not only suitable for small items, but also for products with different shapes such as apples or chicken legs. Users can adapt the opening angle, gripping force and finger positions flexibly and thus realize different gripping patterns with just one tool.
The new SCPLb/SCPLc compact ejector is predestined for all applications with high volume flow requirements. It provides the necessary vacuum for handling cardboard and packaging. With the optional air-saving regulation, even suction-tight materials can be moved in an energy-efficient manner. The system compensates for leakage flows, such as those that occur in large vacuum systems with partial occupancy. Schmalz has equipped the compact ejectors with integrated valve technology and monitoring – saving users the effort and cost of external control.
Moving heavy loads ergonomically
The PalVac Sprint Hygienic vacuum tube lifter helps professionals in food businesses to move heavy loads such as buckets and bags. This allows them to move items weighing up to 50 kilograms ergonomically and safely. The tube lifter can be dismantled without tools, the protective tube can be wiped clean and is resistant to many cleaning agents. The low-crack and low-gap design and the high-quality surface polish prevent germs and dirt particles from sticking.
Binar Handling, part of the Schmalz Group, will be presenting the new Quick-Lift Arm 100i FOOD at the trade show.
This lifting device meets hygiene requirements, is fully washable and therefore very easy to clean. It is highly precise, safe and versatile. The QLA 100i FOOD uses Binar Handling’s patented handle sensor, which requires very little force from the operator to lift the entire load. The new product has a typical working radius of 2.7 meters. The maximum working load is 100 kilograms and, depending on the weight of the fully adapted end effectors, objects weighing up to 85 kilograms can be moved ergonomically.
