A long tradition of innovation serving the market
With over 40 years of experience and five production units worldwide—Brazil, USA, Belgium, Germany, and Italy—Nissha Metallizing Solutions provides metallized papers for the food and beverage, cosmetics and personal care, consumer goods, electronics, luxury, and tobacco sectors. The company is committed to environmental sustainability by developing products made from FSC-certified and recyclable paper.
“Our vision,” says Giorgio Bosso, CEO of Nissha Metallizing Solutions, “is to be the global reference for functional, innovative, and sustainable packaging solutions. We strive to continuously raise the standards of our solutions, combining superior aesthetics and functionality while always respecting the environment. Our goal is to provide products that not only enhance our clients’ brands but also contribute to a more sustainable future for our planet.”
Production and characteristics of metallized paper
Nissha Metallizing Solutions’ production process takes place in vacuum chambers, where aluminum is vaporized at very high temperatures and deposited on the surface of paper reels.
This process creates a monomaterial that combines aesthetic brilliance and functional properties such as protection against water vapor, light, oxygen, and sealing properties, without the use of fossil-based films.
Nissha Metallizing Solutions’ metallized paper is thus a paper-based monomaterial used in packaging for food and non-food products.
Versatility and applications of Nissha paper
The characteristics of Nissha Metallizing Solutions’ metallized paper are particularly appealing to the packaging industry. Nissha Metallizing Solutions’ metallized paper is extremely versatile, can be easily printed on both sides, and is therefore used by converters for their most challenging packaging projects.
“Our customers,” continues Giorgio Bosso, “are the converters who use our material to print and cut it, creating innovative and premium packaging or parts of it. A commonly widespread example of its use globally is found in the beverage sector, particularly in beer or spirits labeling. Another global application is the metallized paper used in cigarette packs.”
Enhancing packaging: the challenge between paper and plastic
The industry’s interest in premium and sustainable materials, as alternatives to those derived from fossil-based raw materials, opens many opportunities for the Japanese company.
Today, in the world of fast-moving consumer goods, there is a demand for sustainable, high-quality materials with functional properties and good machinability, and Nissha Metallizing Solutions’ metallized paper is a highly versatile material capable of meeting all these trends.
In fact, Nissha Metallizing Solutions’ metallized paper allows converters and brand owners to adopt sustainable packaging to replace existing materials or develop innovative packaging without compromising functionality—such as the shelf life of the packaged product—and sustainability.
The opportunities offered by metallized paper also extend to the industrial, pharmaceutical, and medical packaging sectors.
The solution: combining the benefits of plastic with “premium” features
“Our metallized paper,” says Giorgio Bosso, “is an alternative to plastic and, in part, finds application in the same sectors. I think, for example, of areas where robust and protective wrapping is needed, such as in the case of chip bags and chocolate wrappers. In all these cases, not only does our material offer features comparable to plastic, but it also provides a better tactile and visual perception. These are essential aspects for premium packaging.”
Serving the market
Another added value is the knowledge Nissha Metallizing Solutions has of the entire supply chain. This know-how encompasses the entire paper production process, extends to packaging technologies, and includes consumer trends of the final user.
“We have extensive knowledge of the sectors we serve,” concludes Giorgio Bosso, “but at the same time, we are very open to collaboration, both with brand owners and converters. The aim in this case is to develop effective, sustainable solutions together, appreciated by end consumers.”
In summary, Nissha Metallizing Solutions’ metallized paper represents an innovative and sustainable solution for high-quality packaging, combining superior aesthetics and advanced functionality, meeting global market needs and contributing to a more sustainable future.
