With this machine investment of EUR 4.2 million the packaging manufacturer is aiming for zero-defect deliveries with minimal production time. The expansion of the Wörrstadt gluing center for packaging is gathering pace this summer with the commissioning of the new Bahmüller Turbox BTX 2300 folder gluer, including the power packer auxiliary unit.
Efficient and extraordinary fast system with the gluing center for packaging
“This investment has added an efficient and extraordinarily fast system to our machinery stock which will further improve our production processes and our products,” says Michael Weber, Head of Corporate Strategy + Marketing. The folder gluer has the most modern setup design on the market. “This simplifies operation for our employees and significantly shortens set-up times,” adds Michael Weber.
During processing, the sensor system on the folder gluing center for packaging checks the quality of the gluing and, if necessary, ejects faulty packaging fully automatically and at full speed. A Tear Strip Applicator for applying tear strips, a Silicone Paper Applicator for processing self-adhesive strips with millimetre precision and an Angled Conveyor Belt from the company Enpro add the finishing touches to the machine. The new downstream automatic bundling power packer uses the automatic counting and separating station to take the packaging directly from the shingle stream. Michael Weber explains the design: “Downstream assemblies can often negatively impact production speed. However, our new production line is perfectly attuned to maintain maximum speed.”
The needs to expand the future production capacities for e-commerce packaging
A palletising robot from the company MuK completes the investment: “Our new high-performance robot can stack several rows and layers of boxes on top of each other in a single operation even before the stacks are placed on pallets. It doesn’t go any faster than this,” adds Michael Weber. The stacks are automatically transported via conveyor belts to the new pallet inserter which in a fully automatic process places the pallets under the stacks, thereby completing the new folding box line.
The machinery at the site in Carl-Benz-Straße is fully supporting Thimm Group’s strategic focus on the consumer goods industry. The family business also wants to expand its future production capacities at the Wörrstadt plant, especially for e-commerce packaging, with another production line for 2023 currently being planned.
