The Corona pandemic is keeping the entire world on tenterhooks and is also facing the supplier industry for sweets and snacks with new challenges. At the same time, undreamt-of forces are being unleashed, which are pushing the worldwide change processes such as the digitalisation or product development forward, this in turn is also influencing the behaviour patterns of people.
There is a huge desire among the industry for a piece of normality in everyday business life. This is also reflected by the number of applications in the early bird phase of the trade fair, which expired at the end of May.
Increasing bookings: more than 100 exhibitors from regularly represented countries

The team of the ProSweets Director, Julia Kölsch, has thus registered a significant demand and numerous bookings already seven months before the trade fair starts. More than 100 exhibitors from all of the regularly represented countries, for example from Germany, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Italy or Hungary have registered in spite of the difficult times brought about by the Corona pandemic – in some cases with expanded stand areas.
Beyond Europe companies from the USA, Hong Kong and Ghana have confirmed their participation at the trade fair. New exhibitors from Germany, France and Turkey have already registered as well. The first group participations to register come from Italy, the Czech Republic, Taiwan and China.

ProSweets Cologne, the sweets family after the Corona pandemic

“Our exhibitor clientele is looking forward to the industry event in the company of their “sweets family” ProSweets Cologne and ISM. People want to engage in a dialogue with each other again, and primarily present their products to a wide audience. In an uncertain competitive environment after the Corona pandemic, with the aid of ProSweets Cologne we can help our exhibitors boost their business again and present even more solutions, which will offer added value beyond the crisis. Many of our exhibitors appreciate ProSweets Cologne as an important industry platform. We hope that the macroeconomic situation will stabilise further and we presume that we will receive additional applications over the next months. The signals are positive, because further companies have announced their decision to participate at the trade fair in the summer of 2020,” explained Julia Kölsch, Director of ProSweets Cologne.
Digital concepts for digital offer
Concepts for digital offers are already being planned for the trade fairs that will be staged in Cologne again from the autumn onwards. In addition to the physical trade fair participation, these enable among others the digital establishment of contacts or networking as well as the exchange of information online and create added value for both the exhibitors and trade visitors. Similar digital services are also to be made available for ProSweets Cologne 2021. Via the social media channels of the trade fair, further information can additionally be communicated to the trade visitors via Facebook and LinkedIn.
ISM 2021, parallel to ProSweets

Positive results have also been recorded for the leading global trade fair for sweets and snacks, ISM, which is being held parallel. In the anniversary year, the trade fair was able to set a new record with 1,774 exhibitors (plus 7.5 percent) in total from 76 countries.
Also in these difficult times, ISM is recording a very good booking status with over 500 exhibitors and 76 percent of the available space booked (previous year 86 percent) after the early bird campaign. In particular, the trade fair organisers are very satisfied with the interest displayed by new exhibitors, because applications have already been received from Australia and Iran. This positive development is also setting an important signal for ProSweets Cologne, because the participants of ISM are the most important group of visitors of the supplier trade fair for sweets and snacks.
The industry sponsors of ProSweets Cologne are the Federal Association of the German Sweets Industry (BDSI), Sweets Global Network e.V. (SG), the German Agricultural Society (DLG e.V.) and the Central College of the German Sweets Industry (ZDS).
