At Fachpack 2025, Bosch Rexroth showied how a wide range of linear applications in the packaging industry can be achieved with the required level of performance, efficiency and cost-effectiveness from a single source: from small to large, from light to heavy loads, from simple to complex.
The focus is on low-maintenance Linear Motion slides, the versatile BSCL (Ball Rail System Compact (C) Line) all-round linear guide, as well as electromechanical linear axes and actuators as energy-efficient pneumatic alternatives.
Low maintenance linear motion technology for the packaging industry
All the Rexroth solutions boast a long service life, minimum maintenance costs and time-saving digital engineering via eTools. Mechanical and plant engineering for the packaging industry relies on the use of low maintenance linear motion technology components and subsystems that perform their job reliably, precisely and efficiently in their respective environment. If the components can be purchased from a single source and easily selected, configured and integrated digitally, this results in significant cost advantages and time savings for engineering.
Bosch Rexroth meets these requirements with a Linear Motion Technology portfolio that is scalable in size and design for all the process steps in the value stream – from the primary and secondary packaging to the end-of-line process – including storage and intralogistics. The range of sizes includes miniature ball rail systems for linear motions in the smallest installation spaces as well as heavy-duty axes for palletizing. Thanks to the wide range of formats, users always get the optimum solution. This could be, for example, a linear bushing, a compact linear axis module or the price-performance-optimized BSCL linear guide for medium requirements, which is available from stock worldwide.
The corrosion resistant versions for the linear motion technology
For different environmental conditions, the Linear Motion Technology range includes corrosion resistant versions in NRII (stainless-steel) or NRFG (NRII food grade), as well as variants with hard chrome plated surfaces, specialist plastics or lubricants such as H1 lubrication for the foods sector. High resistance to contamination – such as from cardboard dust – is offered by sealing options or standard bellows with linear motion slides.

Linear Motion Technology from Bosch Rexroth allows long operating times and lubrication intervals up to lifelong lubrication, and thus contributes to a reduction in the overall costs. The peak lubrication values for ball rail systems BSHP are a travel life of up to 20,000 km and/or 2 million revolutions for BASA ball screw drives. Optional drive and automation packages for single and multi-axis systems reduce the workload for the structural design and commissioning to a minimum.
Bosch Rexroth also offers energy-efficient alternatives to pneumatic actuators, in particular the SMS linear axes and the EMC electromechanical cylinders. The latter are also available as readyto-use subsystems, including the operating software.
To save on engineering time, Bosch Rexroth has digitally mapped the entire selection and procurement process. The Linear Motion Technology Selector, for example, guides users to the right solution after just a few entries – including accessories, CAD data and lubricant recommendations. The relevant product recommendations are based on several years of application experience and high configuration-related expertise. The Rexroth application team also supports special configurations on request.
