Sustainably safe packaging machines
In Düsseldorf, Pilz also focused on standard-compliant safety strategies for packaging machines in accordance with the MR and CRA: what are the steps to consider from development and design through to commissioning?
As a standards expert, Pilz advised visitors about its tailor-made support, comprising services and training throughout the entire lifecycle of packaging machines. The focus is on Industrial Security: visitors to the stand learnt about the special support Pilz has to offer when implementing the most important tasks: “protection of functional safety from cyber attacks”, “protection against unauthorised access” and “protection against on-site manipulation”. Another related topic: the MR requires a systematic risk assessment and consideration of digital risks throughout the entire machine lifecycle. Pilz presents its MYZEL Lifecycle Platform with this purpose in mind. Visitors to the stand at the packaging trade fair experienced live how MYZEL, as a central platform, guarantees the legally compliant, safe operation of FFS in particular, as well as other types of packaging machines.
Safety sensors provide comprehensive protection for packaging processes

Safety sensors protect both packaging machines and operating personnel. At Interpack, Pilz also had its sensor technology portfolio PSEN on the stand. The automation specialist provided practical advice on the implementation of Safety and Security via sensor technology from Pilz. A key issue here is the robustness of Pilz sensors for packaging machines. Visitors learnt also how intelligent diagnostic functions can be networked and integrated for diagnostic purposes via the Pilz IO-Link Safety system – including the first certified IO-Link Safety Master – and safety locking devices.
