The EXPERT K5 is fully equipped with BOBST unique innovations, AluBond® and AlOx GEN II and will be used for the production of opaque and transparent UHB BOPP and BOPET. The BOBST AluBond® process was developed to provide excellent adhesion levels on any substrate. When applied to BOPP films, AluBond® also provides enhancement of both oxygen (OTR) and water vapour (WVTR) barrier levels and as such can be used for production of opaque high barrier, sustainable films.
The sustainability trend in flexible packaging industry
BOBST AlOx GEN II is a development of the original BOBST AlOx process which has been established in the market for over 15 years for the production of high barrier, clear PET films. AlOx GEN II is focused on the production of high barrier, clear BOPP films in response to the sustainability trend in the flexible packaging industry. In addition to providing high levels of oxygen and water barrier at a reduced optical density, film produced using the AlOx GEN II process is transparent straight off the machine.
