The Multivac Group showcased its whole line of portioning devices from its subsidiary TVI for usage in commercial and industrial settings at this year’s IFFA.
The exhibits included the latest GMS 1000 model, a highly versatile portioning line specially designed for use by medium-sized meat processors and food service providers.
Meat portioning line with full capacity for trays
With its meat portioning line, Multivac is demonstrating the full range of its solutions in this area. The GMS 1000 portioning machine was shown in action as part of a fully networked line system: in combination with a flexible denester, a product insertion area, a precise weighing and sorting station, the high-performance TX 620 traysealer and a checkweigher with integrated metal detector, the line demonstrated how modern meat processing works at the highest level of efficiency.
Thanks to digital networking, all components of the line can be seamlessly controlled and analysed via the Multivac Line Control. The combination of maximum portioning quality, minimum product loss and maximum labour efficiency sets new standards in industrial food production. A central component of this optimisation is the live data evaluation of the individual line segments, which creates full transparency across the entire portioning and packaging process. To achieve this, the line is equipped with precise weighers at several process stages – from the raw product to the portioned units to the final packaging weight. This gives the operating company an insight into the yield of their raw materials and the give-away for each individual pack. The efficient reworking stations of the SCI 1000 sorting machine significantly reduce the line give-away. The recorded weight data is compared with the target values in real time and flows directly into the machine control of the portioning process. If the system detects a tendency to overweight or underweight, it automatically adjusts the slice weights to minimise deviations. This not only reduces the line give-away, but also the amount of manual rework.
Flexible portioning line for butchers and food service

Another portioning line at the trade fair was aimed specifically at medium-sized meat processors and food service providers. Thanks to its high flexibility, the line is ideally suited to cover the broad product range of these companies. The possibility of fixed-weight production also enables new sales channels such as vending machines, regional supermarkets and e-commerce to be opened up. At the same time, its modular expansion options provide an ideal basis for further growth.
The space-saving line ensures reliable, hygienic and economical production. While the GMS 400 portioner portions all types and portion shapes of meat to the desired target weight, the checkweigher ensures that all packs reach the exact target weight. A compact thermoforming packaging machine then ensures resource-saving vacuum packaging. A vacuum filler extends the line with flexible dosing options for products such as chili con carne, sauce or delicatessen salads, which can be packed on the same line. You can even produce your own cool packs for the mail order business efficiently by dosing and packaging water. The flexibility of this line enables packaging cycles to be optimally adapted to the requirements of different customers and markets.
